My Dad and I are making the trip to the Convention tomorrow... anyone make it over there yet? What are things like there? How are the crowds? Parking? Any suggestions on where to park? Thinking about parking at Heinz Field at riding the shuttle over. I assume they let camera's and backpacks in?

Thanks..

Linda Walker and Nikki Goeser are both there. They were on NRA-News yesterday from the convention.

You can try to email her at lwalker@buckeyefirearms.org but I don't know if she is regularly checking email or not.

Well it was worth the trip to Pittsburgh, took my two sons and it was like kids in a candy shop! I did get 15 minutes of time to talk to Dave Dlubak of Ithaca and he showed me their new 1911's. All I can say is WOW! They are very well made, probably more like a swiss watch, silk smooth. We also discussed the phoenix O/U shotgun and he said they hope to get a few hundred out soon.
Overall a great convention and a good time!

I went Saturday, made it to the Celebration of American Values show Saturday night and caught about an hour of the show Sunday morning before heading home.

Foxworthy was very good and very funny. Michael Reagan gave a good speech about his dad. Mike Huckabee's spped was good too; although, I thought he played it a little safe. Arizona Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu was on fire and gave the best speech IMHO.

I did happen to run into Linda by chance on Saturday, which is how she she got on the Shootin' from the Hip radio show that afternoon. (I know Jeff & Mark from Sim Trainer, and I was hanging out with Mark.)

I had a great time. Next year I'd like to take in show on Friday and Saturday because I only got to see about 1/3rd of it. I had a great time. If you are a gun nut and haven't been to the show, go if you get the chance. You WILL enjoy it.

Agreed, every gun enthusiast or second amendment supporter should attend the NRA convention at least once. So glad my Dad and I went. We had a great time looking at the guns and exhibits. Wished we could have attended everything, maybe next time. I think it speaks volumes that you can have that many people together with concealed carry and not have any incidents (not that I heard of anyway).

Great day... proud to be a NRA member and an American!

Attended my first NRA Board Meeting today. Total attendance: 71,139!!! Record breaking totals on all of the banquets, NRA store and pretty much everything else. What a fantastic weekend again!!! St Louis next year. Put it on your calendars for April 13-15.

Enjoyed it very much with my grandson. I did catch a glimpse of you Linda but was busy tracing down a busy 10 year old so I didn't get to introduce myself. We dis leave with matching NRA caps which was a lot of fun.

Great time at the event. Some friends had a room for Friday night, I drove up after working half a day, so I missed the big Friday event :( Worked my way through the Show floor, got to meet and talk to John Lott, Nikki Goesser, Dick Heller, Cathy Jackson, Mark Walters, may have seen or talked to others and just didn't realize it.. I have to plan next year, my friends bailed after the first night so I got all cozy and slept in my car Sat night, I don't think I've worked the kink out of my neck yet... , the hotel we were in Friday night had no rooms for sat (big surprise) because I wanted to attend the club workshop session on Sun morning, was well worth the stay. since I was already there, might as well go to the Ted Nugent event, took the time to get an autograph and shake his hand as well.

I have a bag full of reading material that will keep me busy for the next several months. Finally got to handle a couple pieces I was interested in but no local shop carries due to cost and being a specialty item that isn't sold very often (1873 Lever action Rifle has been on my wish list for a long time, but no-one has them in stock I hate spending that much sight unseen) Several new Items on my "Wish List" after the event. It was informative, educational, was nice being able to give both positive feedback as well as constructive criticism to the manufacturers and feel that you were listened to.

I also determined that driving in Pittsburg traffic bites... and the organization for the shuttles after the Sat evening event was a bit umm unorganized.. we got shoved out of the way for 4 shuttles, then decided to just hike it.

Good times... good times..

Fly! If gas prices are still as high as they are now, flying would probably be as cheap as driving.

On the other hand, IL is closer to getting CCW passed than they ever have been. Who knows, maybe they'll have it by then.

Wiley:

I think IL will honor FOPA Transport....

(Basically, locked in the trunk, empty, and you can't stop in IL except for meals, fuel, or potty breaks. Unknown if you could get away with an overnight stay - that seems to be possible - but you can't be "going there" in the sense of IL being the end point of a trip, or, I suppose, even a stop to visit relatives longer than a few minutes.)

(IANAL!)

I'd love to see 'em try to hold it in Chicago and then tear IL a new one.... Lots of money involved in those things.

Couldn't make Pittsburgh.... The wife managed to schedule cataract surgery and guess who had to be here to hand her Tylenol.... And you can't get the capsules anymore  ....

Regards,
