On Wednesday September 10th the forum will be changing and may be down between 8am and noon.

Wednesday afternoon everyone's log in information should work and everything should be up and running. If you notice something not working right, just leave a comment here and we can forward that information to the web guys.

No major changes to report, just a new layout.

Great news, the Open Carry forum will be accessible to read without logging in.

This is bad.

Where do you log out.

I can't read 6 point black type on dark red background. And when highlighted it turns red on dark red background.

Some just can't leave well enough alone.

So far it looks good and is running well. On my computer it's red type against an off-white background that may have just a tinge of pink. Plenty of contrast for my eyes.

Give it a couple days, everyone. Every time I log on here something is different so someone is still playing around with the layout, colors etc.

I think this is pretty much how it is going to stay. If anyone has suggestions you can leave comments here and we will try to get it addressed.

Things like "the new post link at the top isn't there" is helpful and can probably be fixed, boarders, quote boxes things like that. Saying "this sucks" won't help much

Unless I'm missing it, when you are reading the last post in the thread there is no option to post a reply without a quote unless you scroll back to the top of the page.

I cannot find the setting to change the color scheme or whatever it is called on this board like I used to be able to - sorry, but this red/pink/grey/black theme is hideous.

I see plenty things wrong...
1) Bottom margin is off. The grey lettering is overlapping into the white footer.
2)The grey and black lettering is difficult to read against the red background.
3)Topics are not categorized, they are lumped together like the old layout. That little - (minus symbol) closes the entire board instead of the individual forums like it should. That way if I am not interested in a particular forum I can minimize it and display only the things I am interested in. What we have is one giant forum with topics under it instead of multiple forums that contain topics with subjects in them.
4)I liked the poster information on the top left instead of the bottom left. Thus keeping the signature line at the bottom where it belongs.
5)The index page itself is parsed or something. Making the categories and info stacked instead of nice thin lines. That may be due to problem 3).

I have more but these are the main things to work on for now.

Couple more things. Make sure that French image crawler is still blocked because it will lock everyone out of the board when it is working. You may want to kick the Baidu crawler off the board too. That is Chinese based and will only attract a bunch of spammers. That is, if the Chinese government will allow it's citizens to even see such a board. Either way it is of little benefit to our typical viewers.

There may be more bots and crawlers that need purged. Some of them cause more harm than good.

I see that I still carry the title "Site Admin" which I am not. If I were, I would not be typing these suggestions. I would have already sought approval for the repairs and began work on fixing whatever I was allowed to.

The first thing being, apply the board preferences toggle that would allow me to default to "Quicksilver" or "mobile friendly version". I can't imagine what this place looks like on a cell phone now. Maybe that feature is enabled but I can't read or find it in this configuration.

I think it's hard to read. There is no break on a post between the user's info on the left and their post. Then there is no break between the top line of the post where it says "Post subject: ......." Lastly, there's no defined break between the user's post and their signature. Yes, there's a line there, but it's not much difference than....

This is not my signature

There needs to be some separation such as different color areas or more defined lines. Otherwise, it's just a pain to read from post to post.

I suggest changing the target of links in posts to open in a new window/tab. Currently, if we click a link and want to come back to the forum, we new to hit the back button one or more times.

When looking at the list of posts in a forum or the new or unread post list, the am/pm for the date/time in the "Last Post" column wraps a second line, making the list of posts take up more vertical screen space than it needs to.
