Post subject: Central Ohio Outdoor range?
Post Posted: Tue Jul 26, 2016 6:22 pm
I haven't been able to shoot on my personal 'range' in WV in a while so I'm now looking for someplace in central ohio I can go. I want to be able to setup my chronometer and test a few loads.

Been a while for me but Delaware is a Class A range which means covered firing line, shooting benches, etc. Probably 25 and 50 yards to hang up targets on like plastic mesh snow fence, using clothes pins. Maybe by now they've added indoor bathrooms like at Spring Valley.

Delaware should also have a range safety officer that calls the line safe when it's time to go down range. Then makes it "hot" again when all have returned. They probably won't let you do any work from the holster.

"I have decided not to vote, speak in public, assemble in groups or petition my government either directly or by writing to the newspapers.

Some ignorant person may become alarmed, and we can't have that.''

Delaware State Park Shooting Range will probably serve your needs. You need to buy your $5 pass online from ODNR and bring it with you, as you cannot buy it there.

They have three shooting areas: trap (free), 100 yd (I think it's 100) rifle and 15-20 yard pistol ranges. There is a range officer there, but he will only periodically walk the firing line. It is considered a self-policing range, so shooters will call the cease-fire when they need to change targets. I've been there a few times and haven't seen any real safety concerns. There was one yahoo , thogh, who did quietly say "cease fire" and just start walking downrange while others were still shooting. I saw him, yelled cease fire at the top of my lungs, yelled at him at the top of mnlungs, and he was done for the day. #idiot

I would call and ask. I don't have the odnr website handy, but they're pretty good about helping out with questions like that if you email them.
