I have done internet searches and I find a few sites...several larger vendors state law enforcement sales only. There are many small operations and just a handful of large ones.
If you have purchased or know someone that has recently, can you suggest a couple places for body armor vendors that will sell to civilians. I was hot for a while, ready to purchase, but gave up quickly due to "LEO-only" or small-time vendor risk.
Any guidance you may have would be helpful. I want to buy, but would like to know which are good quality and legit/quality vendor.
Thank you.

Also don't just buy the lightest/cheapest one. At the bare minimum, buy one rated for your carry caliber.

I am happy with their Condor MOPC carrier with AR500 plates.

I would go with only a well respected brand name like Second Chance or Point Blank. You will want to be certain that the armor has been certified by an independent laboratory like White Laboratories and that it truly passes DOJ/NIJ standards. Like Chowser said, this is something that you don't want to cheap out on. Make sure that you have good side coverage, as a lot of armor lacks adequate coverage with the soft armor in this area.

I recommend Body Armor Outlet... they carry several manufacturers.
