Some types of handgun cartridges legal for deer hunting include Muzzle loading firearms.

Welcome Aboard! There's a sticky at viewtopic.php?f=6&t=10097 that you probably should have a look at. It's not mandatory, and could be hazardous to your health....

About Calemus' comment. I had to dig a ways back to find it. I think he means to use those to avoid magazine size limitations that, for example, limit you to three rounds in a shotgun tube. I'm not sure if that'd be legal....
