Urgent Ohio issue at hand...

Post by Aaron » Tue Jun 16, 2015 10:29 pm

Senator Widener is at it again. He is sponsoring a budget amendment that will:

1.Add 7 members from the legislature to the Ohio Wildlife Council. This is guarantee that the Council couldn’t win a vote.

2.All members of the Council must be approved by the Ohio Senate.

3.Freeze all hunting seasons and bag limits at the current levels and dates. I believe this will also apply to fishing.

4.Bring the management of game, seasons, bag limits, license fees under the control of the Ohio Legislature.

The potential for serious budget amendments to drastically alter the authority and make-up of the Ohio Wildlife Council exists. Details are not completely known at this time. However, it is safe to say that the sportsmen voice may need to be heard loud and proud in Columbus at the statehouse as early as Thursday. Anyone who can travel to the Statehouse on Thursday please keep your schedules open. This is a rapidly developing and fluid situation. Any amendment at the last minute of the budget legislation is hard to fight. We must respond or the Ohio Wildlife Council and sportsmen voice could end up under the thumb of the Ohio Senate.
Hence it is, that democracies have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have, in general, been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths
