Post subject: How to NOT carry
Post Posted: Wed Aug 19, 2015 10:21 am
This happened Sunday of last week in Philadelphia. A guy whose gun was printing at his lower back had his gun taken away from him by a hooligan who then attempted to shoot the permit holder.

The article says that the guy dropped his gun during the mugging, but you can clearly see in the video that the bad guy went straight for the gun, and was probably the reason this guy was attacked in the first place (easy target).

This is a guy with zero situational awareness, and because of this, there is now one more criminal with a gun.

Not a great place to carry anyway, IMO

Carrying a gun in the small of your back, holstered or not, is not wise.

Another important factor with toting a full sized gun is a good quality belt. So many don't know or choose to ignore that, and end up switching to a much smaller, harder to control handgun. or worse yet they just flat give up carrying at all.

By the way I can't get that linked news video to play right on either my phone, nor a good genuine real desktop computer. I really want to see the incident as it unfolds, and be able to review it in depth.

Oh well there's always tomorrow.

It played on my laptop. But, news station cites are notorious for not working.

I couldn't agree more. Given what I've read about the risks I've always recommended against it, but not overly strongly. Until winter before last when I stepped off of my front porch onto the stop step and my feet went out from under me and I came down *hard* on the edge of the step right below my belt line. I have never hurt so much in my entire life, and I'm convinced I would have sustained truly serious injuries had my gun been carried SOB instead of strong side at 3:00. I'm a bit more emphatically against it now...
