Campus carry

Post by Sparky43207 » Thu Mar 03, 2016 5:01 pm

Does anyone know if the law was changed about carrying on college campuses? I read where this was going to be changed during the last legislative session but I never heard the final outcome.

No change yet. There is another bill pending in the General Assembly that would allow colleges to "opt in" and permit carry, but that's it as far as I know.

That current bill JustaShooter mentions is likely a waste of time. Can't see any major college opting in. At best it's a baby step towards a good law, some years later. Hope I live to see that one.

Lets clarify, you cannot conceal carry on campus. You can Open carry on campus of a state college. That's the public parts of the campus open to the public. However, students should consult their student handbook before open carrying on campus.

And when you complain how wrong I am please cite the Ohio Revised Code Section that supports your complaint. And no you can't be convicted of trespass for being on public property open to the public.

Indeed, that is the case as has been shown by the open carry walks held on campus last year - I should have made that distinction in my reply to the OP.
