Mexican carry in Ohio

Post by Joe Sixpack » Tue May 02, 2017 1:57 pm

Hey, I was talking to someone on another message board and I made the statement guns had to be carried in holsters, although I believe pockets, purses, fanny packs, etc also qualified.

I thought unsecured carry such as Mexican carry (down the waste-band) was against the law in Ohio.. or if not now was at one time..

am I barking up the wrong tree?

Not sure if it has ever been illegal (other than in a motor vehicle, which was the case for a while) but there is currently no law requiring a holster of any kind in Ohio, nor a requirement to secure it in any way while carrying.

YA SB17 took out the car transport requirement correct?
But I thought at one time it was also illegal walking around.. I was mistaken?

Never unlawful. Never recommend either.

IMHO at one point the law required "holstered on your person" ?? Which precluded shoving it in your waistband or dropping it in a pocket ??

Agreed shoving into waistband is a bad bad idea.

There was a time when it had to be holstered on your person in plain view (or similar wording) while in your vehicle as I recall, but not otherwise.
