Way back in my misspent youth, I worked as a cable and telephone installer, so I have the Butte phones covered. I still have my climbing gear, using hooks is much better than trying to hug the tree on the way up or down.

Any of you have experience in a Skymaster? Mainly the up keep work, preferably an FBO type of person. That could earn a spare bed room quickly.

I have ONE butte set. Guess I need to shop for another - and a roll of commo wire while I'm out there.

Limited experience on a mixmaster but I LOVE them. Hey, its just another multi with both engines on centerline. (A great idea to my mind)

Skip,

I look on eVilbay for butte phones, much better pricing than Graingers. Some where around I think I still have 2 "army donuts" of field phone wire. Got those at a yard sale, cheap and well worth the money.

if you guys are looking to buy used butt sets, there is eBay, but there is also a great phone resource in Chicago...

www.sandman.com

I would look for a TS-21 or a TS-22.

The TS-21 was a great butt set, everyone used it! The next was the TS-22, it has speed dial and a handsfree speaker. I love my TS-22, I did not have to listen to music on ignore, I could turn on the speaker and go do what I wanted/needed.

Since I do not work in the phone business anymore, they have come out with other butt sets with CID, and DSL/data friendly.

I couple spools of cross connect wire, a 9v battery (anything that would provide at least 20mA and enough voltage to keep the 20ma loop the length of the wire), and two butt sets would make a great intercom.

Another source, the Dayton Hamvention. There are always a couple butt sets forsale out in the flea market.

ISDN is Integrated Services Data Network, it is the way some commercial PBXs handle data and voice.

I tried putting a standard Butte phone on an ISDN phone block and it didn't work, because ISDN is all digital, so are a few other things in the world.

Along with the ISDN phone, I would like to have a satellite phone or something that can scan that frequency range. The gov and similar groups can pick up and pin point a satellite phone, but it doesn't requires any land base technology.

Thinking of adding binoculars to my home bug in lot and my truck bug out bag.

I may also consider a monicular for bug out bag. Not sure if monicular is the correct term for single lenses style.

Any recommendations?

I overheard a friend tell another friend that he found a Bushnell clone, autofocus, 7x35 online for $9.95 + s/h. I will try to find out where that web site is.

I like the auto focus! I am near sighted, so I use mine without having to wear glasses. I have Bushnell Autofocus 7x35, I think that I paid $39.95 at Cabelas. I also have some older Tasco 7x50, but I set them up for me, and whenever my perfectly sighted kids want to use them, I also have to readjust.

$40 wont kill me I see some sets of binoculars getting costly. I am just interested in something with good range and that will hold up.

I admit, I've been procrastinating about getting a BOB kit together. Funds dont allow the things I want to get. I know i should prioritise, but some bills have to be paid.

With that all said, I do keep these websites on speeddial. Lots of good info, and some of you may already have seen it..

Enjoy.

I started my BOB a little at a time honestly. I don't have the fanciest gear either I picked most of the supplies up from Walmart. I drive a truck and can bee hundreds or thousands of miles from home. If the shtf I want some basic survival gear.
