Post subject: Really bad luck

Joe was having a run of really bad luck; he lost his job, his girlfriend deserted him, his pickup engine blew up, and an IRS audit left him on the hook for several thousand dollars of back taxes. Several of his friends conspired to help him, but they knew he would never accept what he considered charity. So, they came up with the following scheme:

They invited Joe to a private lottery, for a prize consisting of money they contributed. Each participant was to draw a small numbered slip of paper from a hat, and the one who drew number 4 would take the entire prize. To insure that Joe would win, they wrote the number 4 on every slip.

When the drawing was held, each of Joe's friends glanced briefly at his slip, then crumpled it and threw it away in apparent disappointment. Joe, however, was silent. Finally one of his friends asked, "Well, Joe, what did you draw?"

Glumly, Joe responded, "Six and seven eighths . . ."

Truly a case of buzzard's luck if I've ever heard one.
Poor guy wasn't big enough to kill anything,
And nothing would die.
