Also, it's better when spoken than typed out but here goes.

American guy on vacation: "Why do you Japanese people call your cell phones 'angels'"?

Local guy; "Because first dey go 'wing, wing' den we say 'Halo?' when we answer dem."

Stu I hope my time in detention isn't too long for that one.

Damn, but I hate reading in accent, makes my eyes sound funny, but still a pretty good one.

Jokes are only funny when they're true. :)

Allen, I go to a weekly trivia contest hosted by a pretty talented stand up comic. That joke, among others, came from the night's events. During a break in the game I asked him how he reliably makes a living in this overly PC society we live in nowadays.

He said that he has to flip an internal switch when going offstage, otherwise he's just bound to get someone's nose bent out of joint. Without mentioning where, he told me that some cities are too PC for a bunch of material to work, even in a comedy club, it's like some folks can't get that sometimes there's some making FUN in being FUNNY.

Can't understand for the life of me why any such thin skinned person would even go to a comedy club in the first place.

Agreed.

I thought the object of the game is to laugh, when one's paying to go to a comedy club.

And if we can't laugh at ourselves, who can we laugh at? :P

Honestly, when someone tells an "Asian Joke" - and I couldn't care less how crude or insensitive or how supposedly "racist" it is  , as long as it's done in good fun - I'm usually the one that's rolling on the floor laughing. I really think it takes true understanding and tolerance in order to actually strike that funny-bone, and that people who are racist can't reach those depths to actually be that funny.

True story: part of the reason we chose -not- to name our daughter Amaranth is because we knew my parents would *never* be able to pronounce it......

Alan:

"Amaranth".... Egad, I'm not sure how to pronounce that either :D . My little sister unilaterally changed the pronunciation of our last name to what it sort of looks like. Solved problems for her. I'm just used to it....

Other jokes that are a sort of racial slur bother me, but not the simple stuff: Jack Benny's repertoire of jokes mostly started with stuff like "Two Jews".... A friend of his told him that was in bad taste, so he should change the "source" of some of his jokes.

So, he started his next one: "Wo Fat and Hang Su were getting off the bus, and one turns to the other; 'Wo, what are you doing for Passover?'"

Regards.

I whole heartily agree with that statement. After all aren't we
all some of the most funny things God put on this earth.
