Post subject:  Any SAR members out here?

After a long time researching genealogy, and some time waiting after submitting application to National SAR. I was finally accepted. I'm a member of the George Rogers Clark Chapter in Springfield, OH I will be formally inducted Feb 23rd. It is humbling and quite an honor for me to be a SAR member. I learned a lot about my families history and their service to the country in the many wars in which they fought.

Of special interest was the fact that at least 4 of my Patriot ancestors were gun smiths during the late 1700's and early 1800's. Most were tradesmen, farmers and railroaders. Working class Democrats, and at least one was a Mason.

I doubt they would know the Democratic Party today. FDR, Truman, and John Kennedy are probably rolling in their graves. None of my family are Democrats today. Commies ran us all out years ago.

Thanks WileyCoyote! One of my patriot ancestor's sons was killed in the battle of Trenton. It was fought on Dec 26, 1776 after Washington's Army crossed the Delaware River.
