Post subject: RA M4A1 vs. Sig M400 question
Post Posted: Sat Nov 09, 2013 12:29 pm
Anybody got a constructive comparison of the Remington Arms M4A1 as compared to the Sig Sauer M400?

My local Walmart has one of each on display. (Last I heard there was another Sig. locked up in the back.)
The RA is $977 and the Sig. is $997.
Visually I seem to like the black RA better than the ODG Sig.

Also they've got 5.56 ammo for sale at ~50 cents a round (I think, I could be wrong. I just glanced in the ammo case looking for .22).

Here are my suggestions.

Below $1000 price point, Smith and Wesson Sport or other model if you really like it.
At the $1000 price point area, Colt 6920 or similar by Colt or BCM.
Above the $1000 price point DD, or other.

I know Walmart was carrying the Colt 6920 b/c I have seen them there for right about the same price. I have also seen reports of Walmart carrying other versions such as the Colt with Magpul furniture and other similarly priced variations.

I know virtually nothing about the Remington model and I think I described the Sig in another post when you asked about it. At that price point you can get a recognized and thoroughly known GOOD AR15, so there is no advantage to going to a lesser known entity b/c you truly are not saving much if anything in terms of cost.

I was just wondering.
RA just lost their contract with the government to supply a bunch of M4A1s and I suspect that they are now selling them off de-miled.
