Post subject: Transporting AR to Pennsylvania?
Post Posted: Tue Mar 01, 2016 8:23 am
So I'd like to take my AR to PA for a day of shooting with a friend. I've tried reading through the PA gun laws, and I end up unsure whether I can do so or not. I have PA's gun laws bookmarked for future reference, so if anyone knows the answer to my question and can point me to the specific law, that would be great.

They do not make it easy to get a clear answer in many cases it seems to me.

Thanks in advance.

PA doesn't have an "assault weapon" law, so nothing to worry about with respect to it being an AR. I'd cite a source, but that's hard to do since there isn't any law against it... But if you believe Wikipedia, there's this entry: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_laws_in_Pennsylvania

As far as transporting the rifle to and from your day's activities, if you follow Ohio's long gun transportation laws you'll also be fine in PA - that is, cased, rifle unloaded, any loaded mags stored in a separate container. If you have your Ohio concealed handgun license, the mags don't have to be separate. See http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/leg ... &subsctn=0, especially (a)(1), (a)(2) and (b)(4), (b)(11).
