FYI: The bodies on the newer ones are not as thick as the old ones (30 years) - may not hold up as well. You can actually feel the difference when you hold them. The upgrade I did was not on the old one but a unit I purchased just before the LED's had came out.

i'd guestimate mine is about 10 yrs old..

Finally broke down and got myself something. Maglite XL50 LED flashlight. 104 lumens, tail-cap switch, study aluminum, takes 3 AAA batteries for $30 at Lowes. Three modes: bright, dim, or SOS.

I recently purchase an Olight M20 that i really like. However, it just started acting funny and it is noticeably dimmer and won't cycle through all of the settings. I wouldn't think it is the batteries, since I haven't had it that long. I can try to replace them, but they are on the pricey side. Any other suggestions of what to try?

I have an M20 Warrior and it does sound like the batteries are dying. I bought UltraFire TR 18650 rechargeable batteries and a charger online for about $20.00. They are pretty darn good flashlights.

Well that stinks. It is an expensive flashlight with pricey batteries. Thanks for the tip on the rechargeables. If they are going to run down that quickly it is a good idea.

I have the same combo and am impressed by the length of time the 18650s hold a charge. Did you get the 3000 mAh versions?

I got mine a couple years ago, but they are the 2400 mah batteries. The ones I have hold a charge a pretty long time. I carried it when I worked security, so my light was on a good part of the night. Never had any issues with the light at all.

Ok. I really don't know much about batteries. What would you recommend as a good price / performance compromise and what is the best source for it? Thanks.

I like trustfire batteries, Their china knock off brand but they have the best reputation for delivering the labeled capacity.
I've been using them for just about a year now and they are still holding up.

Deal extreme sales them, they're pretty cheap less then 10 bucks will get you a pair.

I have a Olight T10 that I carry on my belt and the M20 that I carry in a book bag. When I bought mine they had a CREE XP-G S2 LED which made this brighter then the other leds. When I went back to buy a spiderco knife we compared the brightness from the T10 they had in stock and what I bought and you could see a huge difference.

These have a life time warranty on them also. So if you think something is broken just send it back and they will replace it. I was told from the place I bought it from I could just bring it back to them and they would do any replacing needed.
