Post subject: Former Buckeye, movin' back!

Hello to all,
I am a former Buckeye having moved to Baltimore, Maryland 5 years ago (following a woman I married :D ). I did not try to exercise any of my 2A rights until I moved to this liberal utopia. It has been an interesting process jumping through the hoops trying to grow my humble collection. We have wonderful things put in place to protect us from the scary guns... 7 day purchase to possession waiting periods, approved handgun rosters, regulated gun lists, full state police background checks, prohibited gun listings, 20 round magazine limit (fighting the 10 round law right now), may issue CCW... It has definitely been a character building experience. A Maryland shooting forum has become my online home (seems very similar to this forum). I have also become involved with a local group, Maryland Shall Issue (MSI) which is doing great things in this state for firearm owners.

The wife and I are planning on moving back to Ohio in the near future (a year or so) to be with friends and family, so I decided to brush up on Ohio gun laws in anticipation. I have printed out the entire Ohio Code title 29 chapter 2923 which has made for great bathroom reading over the past few weeks. I had some outstanding questions about section 2923.121 which were answered in just a few minutes reading in this forum. I am still confused about some things in section 2923.16. In Maryland, while we can’t stop to eat on the way to or from the range, we can carry loaded magazines as long as they are not in the gun. This is exactly why I am doing research.

I look forward to what I can learn from this site. Lurking and reading will probably be all I do for a while, at least until I get my feet under me.

Matt

One of the best 'plain english' guide to Ohio gun laws is "The Ohio Guide to Firearm Laws" by Ken Hanson http://www.ohiogunlawguide.com/

"The Traveler's Guide to the Firearm Laws of the Fifty States" is a great resource when traveling.

Now now Rich, we haven't seen a picture yet.

Matt, welcome to the forum.

Does it change anything if her preferred shootin' iron is a SA 1911 Loaded Stainless with diamondback rattler grips?

Matt:

Welcome aboard!

I see you've already met some of the more interesting of our members....

There's a sticky here in New Members that you ought to read - it's at http://forums.buckeyefirearms.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=10097....

There's no punishment if you don't, but anything could happen.....

To be honest, I was a little afraid of approving that screen name. But WTH. Can't be any worse than Rich....

(NOTHING can be any worse, except that guy selling used virgins....)

Sammy, BTW, is my little associate. He thinks he's a 200# Rott and I'm afraid to tell him otherwise. The Attack Cats are his little brother and sister.

Regards,

Stu

Pay no heed to the SN, its an inside joke... and thank you for approving me in spite of it!

And I promise to not be any worse than Rich

Here are my associates (they are furry little photo whores):

In hindsight, a pic of furry little dogs might not help with the man card argument brought up earlier...

Matt:

I don't know how anybody could be worse than Rich.... But....

He'll talk to you about the "man card", too....

(My regular shooting buddy has two Yorkies. He's a little whacked himself, but with five or six grandkids - we both lost count - I don't worry about the man thing. Something must have once worked.... :D)

I should talk - Peaches is on my lap right now. Sammy kicked the comma off the keyboard years ago, but I think she just wants a place to nap....

Regards,

Stu

Jr:

If it was Tupperware, I'd really have to ban him.... :D

Matt:

I can't list all my secrets for accepting new members, but the only thing odd about your request was the screen name.

Coin toss sort of thing.... The troops are real good about spotting problems if I let something through....

'Course, a preference for Tupperguns won't help a bit.... (I only have four....)

I carefully planned the first gun pic I posted to be of a steel one based on a wonderful JMB design... I'm not stupid! 8)

Full disclosure: I might or might not own one or more percussion powered, projectile hurling tools with polymer frames.

Though none of them are Blocks
