My name is Andrew Blubaugh, I am a full time police officer, agency trainer, contract instructor for Rifles Only (TX) and Chris Cerino Training Group (OH). My past employment includes: United States Marine Corps, private security sector, contract instructor for the Ohio Attorney Generals Office (OPOTA Richfield Office).

The past few years I have been instructing/teaching on my own and see a serious need to form as a small business. Apex Shooting and Tactics was founded late 2012 and will slowly grow over the next few years. I have no issues using my full name on this public forum. My name is associated with my current and former employers and I see no need to hide behind an anonymous user name.

On a professional level I am a student first and continue to attend classes and clinics. My current position on shooting, tactics, weapons and equipment remain strong, I am always looking for a safer, more efficient way of doing things. I am not a "flavor of the day" type, before adopting any new techniques, tactics or procedures I spend time, money and effort to test and evaluate.

I am here to help out and learn. Stay safe and I look forward to interacting with the website and the members.

Edit to add: My website is in the early stages of construction, I have no intention of going live with it until this summer.

Welcome to the forum Andrew!

I've trained with Andrew at Chris Cerino Training Group. He is good to go.

Andrew:

Welcome Aboard!

Don't forget to have a look at the sticky referenced in the "Forum Rules" masthead at the top of this page. It's not mandatory, and may be sleep inducing, but there are some cute animals in it.... :D

Happy to have you here, too.

One thing to warn you about - well, two - is to keep the number of "I've got a class at xx:xx on yy/yy" posts down. It's OK to post one on the First, for example, and then another one on the Tenth, but a list of 30 will get you yelled on. (It's also OK to put your business' web site URL in your signature, or something like that.)

Also, don't "snipe" - in this case meaning to avoid answering every post with "I teach all about that at my class" sorts of things applied to about everything you get involved with. A goodly percentage of the gang here have their CHL's, and don't really care much about CHL courses anyway, but a lot of us are interested in "follow on" material, such as "try not to be in the wrong place when you drop your gun".... :D

Anyway, keep it light, keep it "family", and we don't sell firearms on this board. Glad to have you!

Regards,

Stu

Stu,

Thanks for tips. I am working on a website and hope to have it live this summer. Until then I doubt I will be advertising any classes.

I am glad you brought up the topic of CHL classes. I should have noted this in my original post. I do not teach CHL. I fully support CHL but my classes focus on Handgun, Carbine, Shotgun, Precision Rifle and tactical skill sets. There are plenty of people offering CHL classes and I see no need for me to offer it as well.

^ Add me to that as well. Andrew is kind, professional, and knows his craft.

I'd love to train with him (and Chris, too), again.

Andrew, do you have a website for Apex Shooting and Tactics? I tried a Google search, but my Google-Fu is lacking. I kept getting Apex Tactical.

Will you/Chris be hosting outdoor civilian courses this summer, as a part of either school?

Allen and Don, Thanks for the kind words.

Allen, I edited my original post concerning the website. It will be live sometime this summer. Chris and I are still working together a lot. We have been doing 4 hour clinics at The Marksman in Barberton, OH and we are planning for some outdoor clinics and classes this summer. Keep an eye on Chris's web site for now. When my site is up and running I will post info about it. Until then if you want to set up some training feel free to send me a message on here.

Cool, thanks for the info, Andrew! :)

I'm currently on the DL. Broke my ankle from, I kid you not, falling down the stairs while (trying to) get(ting) my wife a refill on a glass of milk at around midnight. :o How embarrassing.

With the way ammo prices have jumped more recently, I had also really wanted to dedicate myself more to the H2H/knife-combatives aspect of the equation (remember how I showed up to both of the Enhancement Clinic sessions last year with bruises and Band-Aids? well, that's why: I swear my wife's not beating me! ) - but alas, luck would have it otherwise.

I'm on the look-out for this summer, and I do sincerely hope to see you guys again. :)

I am very much interested in shooting and I love to learn the different modes of tactics applied. The tactics varies according to the situation. I have participated in a few shooting competitions and I have won a few prices too. These tactics should be very helpful for me in my upcoming matches
