Post subject: Rifle restoration work

Hello, I'm new to the forums so if I post this in the wrong area please let me know. I have a rifles that's been in the family for awhile now but not properly taken care of. It's a Savage model 1899 in .30-30 and has definitely seen some better days. It functions but has some rust on the barrel and the wood is not in great shape. At this point is it worth fixing for anything other than sentimental reasons and does anyone have any recommendations to do the restoration?

Welcome! Please give us a general location in Ohio, perhaps add it to your profile so it shows up alongside your posts. It may also help us to give you a lead on that kind of work closer rather than further from home.

Some ignorant person may become alarmed, and we can't have that.''
