PAINESVILLE, Ohio - A woman was shot to death and two others were wounded during an alleged domestic dispute, Fox 8 News reports.
According to the Lake County Sheriff's Department, the incident occurred at 72 Heckathorne Avenue in Painesville at approximately 2:40 p.m. Sunday.
Sheriff's deputies say the resident of the home, a 27-year-old man, turned himself into the Maple Heights Police Department shortly after the shooting. He has since been transported to the Sheriff's Department, where he remains in custody.
Authorities say the man opened fire at a family gathering, striking his mother-in-law, Kathy Thompson, multiple times. According to deputies, Thompson died of her injuries. Two male relatives were also shot. Adam Habizduh and Ronnie Eckert were taken by Life Flight to MetroHealth Medical Center, where they are listed in fair condition.
The man allegedly chased his wife, Amber Pollard, out of the house. Police say she was not injured as she fled the scene on foot to a neighbor's house. The neighbor called 911.
According to the Sheriff's Department, the man did not have a concealed-carry license for the gun that was used.
The Lake County Sheriff's Department confirms the suspect has been arrested and booked on one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder.
He is scheduled to appear in Painesville Municipal Court Monday afternoon.
Guess it's a good thing this was not a CHL holder.
interesting they throw that line into the story for no apparent reason.
