Church Plagued By Break-Ins

Post by KnightOfTheOldeCode » Mon Oct 13, 2008 12:23 am

This is my family church..

It's a trend that has north-side residents looking over their shoulders – two streets have seen nine burglaries in the past few weeks.

NBC 4's Matt Alvarez reports on one community's struggle to stay safe and a department's mission to prevent it from happening again.

Westerville police said a wave of burglaries have occurred along South Sunbury Road.

"We're concerned and we want it to stop, and we're working with (Westerville Police Department) to make sure that it doesn't happen again," said Paul Hamilton, administrator of Central College Presbyterian Church.

Hamilton said the church has been hit by burglars on three to four occasions in the past three weeks.

He said high-end items in the church's multimedia area have been stolen, causing thousands of dollars in loss.

Apartments next to the main church campus have been hit, too.

According to Westerville police Lt. Tracey Myers, there have been a total of five break-ins at the complex.

Residents in the area said they hope police come through with a suspect or suspects quickly.

In addition, nearby church officials said they believe that copper piping was also stolen from area housing units.
If People do their best what else is there?
