A Budding Career Destroyed

Post by zeko » Sun Oct 25, 2015 8:51 pm

Let's see how many are old enough to relate to this one . . .

Some years ago a Milwaukee Brewers scout spotted an extremely talented semipro baseball pitcher named Mel Faimey. His fast ball was blazing; his assortment of curve balls was fantastic; he seemed to be major league material. He had just one problem; he loved his beer, which had a disastrous effect on his control.

Mel was brought up to the Brewers and started in their next home game. He pitched the first couple of innings brilliantly, but between stints on the mound he began visiting his beer stash. As the game progressed, his pile of empty cans became ever higher, and he became ever wilder. When he finally walked the bases full, he was removed from the game – and from the team.

After the game two of the visiting players walked past the Brewer dugout and spied the pile of empty beer cans. Said one to the other, “Look, there’s the beer that made Mel Faimey walk us.”
