  • NRA Split Over Reaction to Newtown Massacre

Hmm,"several senior National Rifle Association officials thought the organization should take a less confrontational approach on gun control issues"

Sounds like the BFA's approach. Coincidence? I think not.

After the 2012 Newtown, Ct., school massacre in which 20 young children died, several senior National Rifle Association officials thought the organization should take a less confrontational approach on gun control issues, the Washington Post reports.

Over their objections, NRA chief executive Wayne LaPierre struck a defiant posture. In fiery public appearances crafted by Ackerman McQueen, then the organization’s LaPierre announced that the group would create a model program to train armed security guards who could protect schools from shooters.

Then LaPierre and his wife left on a $70,000 trip to the Bahamas.

NRA spokesman Andrew Arulanandam said the couple was on official business, doing outreach to donors and supporters. After the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown,

“Wayne’s main concern was being respectful of the victims and their families,” he said.

LaPierre, as leader of the NRA, sought “to figure out a way to harden our schools” while also defending the Second Amendment, Arulanandam said.

New details about how the NRA handled the incident show how Sandy Hook divided the leadership of the powerful gun rights organization. The episode also showcased the symbiotic relationship between LaPierre and Ackerman McQueen, an alliance that defined the NRA for more than three decades.

During that period, the bills for LaPierre’s wardrobe and his private jet travel flowed through the Oklahoma-based ad firm, a practice that critics say shrouded the costs from some NRA leaders and members. At the same time, Ackerman McQueen collected tens of millions of dollars in consulting fees and kept a tight grip on the NRA’s aggressive messaging.

    How so?
We have invested over $1,000,000.00 in schools through our FASTER saves Lives program, which is considered the best such program in the country and has garnered worldwide attention. We have trained more school staff to stop active killers than any other entity.

And what do you think is a coincidence? Are you saying BFA sets policy for NRA? Or NRA sets if for BFA? or ???

      Two words, CONSTITUTIONAL CARRY!

25 years it was first introduced and you still are not FIGHTING FOR IT. WTF are you waiting for? I've been told by your own people 10 years ago "Constitutions Carry is not a serious consideration".

      Why is that Jim?

You still will not support this Current bill HB187 as is, for what reason again? You were silent when it was in the Regulatory Committee that is passed out of for the first time ever no thanks to you. Now, you say you still will not fight the Judicial committee to release it as is?? Why not?

You have invested a million dollars, or the Tax payers have? And you if did do that, this wasn't your job in other states to do. It was to fight for individual rights to defend Ohioans lives without Government permission in any shape or form. Is this what your member paid for other states to take up your time and energy for them?

Teachers can carry without a police style training since they are not police and will never do anything compared to what the police do.

FYI, the NRA supported the 1990 Gun Free Zone act. That's how we got here in the first place.

Don't break you arm patting yourself on your back.

You wouldn't even fight for the true intent of stand your ground bill and you called a win?

You pander to politicians, you do not call them out for what they are just like the NRA. Your own people say you have to build relationships so you can coddle them to get what you want, which, doesn't work either. Especially when you are fighting for THEIR PAID PERMISSION for our rights . That's call morsels. just liker the NRA. The politicians works for us, we are not their subjects or their social experiments in life and death situations. We know what works and what doesn't.

Stand up fight Jim, stop pissing in my ear and calling it rain.

No more compromising Jim, We have had enough. Play offense more than defense.
