Welcome aboard!
Sammy and I run the "New Members" section. He thinks he's a 200# Rott....
Just keep it "family", avoid personal attacks, and we don't sell firearms on this board.
Otherwise, don't be afraid to jump in with comments, questions, etc.

New updates at the bottom of this thing if you've seen the rest before....
*** :!: ***
Ran into something the other day that needs to be said: If you're a new member with questions about an arrest or similar bit of nastiness, or an old member who cranked off Officer Harless, please be careful to NOT post much of anything. No solid rules (as yet), but "does anybody know a good lawyer?" is really all the detail you should post until a case is concluded. Very simply, the other side, whether it's an anti-freedom organization, your local prosecutor, or somebody's lawyer, anybody can read this board, and when in litigation, it's unwise to make almost anything public.
It's perfectly all right to ask for opinions on the law - even if you're doing it from the greybar - but this is the Internet, and any sort of response is possible. "How many years could somebody get for driving into a schoolyard while armed?" is OK. "How many years will I get 'cause I did that last night?" is not....
*** :!: ***
When you hit the board, there are some little things on the upper right of the screen as viewing options. You can use these to quickly scan the board for stuff you haven't seen and might be interested in. Saves trying to remember old threads that you've not subscribed to (see below for "subscriptions"), or thrashing around trying to find new stuff.

Management has asked me to remind everybody - particularly new members - not to come to this forum to bash other Second Amendment rights organizations. If you have a problem with them, take it directly to them and not here.
***
ETA in the "Management" section:
Management has decided to forbid almost all firearms sales or transfers by way of the BFA "Trading Post" or PM's. Please have a look at http://forums.buckeyefirearms.org/vi...p=78086#p78086 for details.

Look out for Rich 2.0. Every organization has at least one member you don't get to meet until you're hooked.... Cookies will placate him. Sammy likes doggie treats....
Seems like I end up either missing new members or having to post this a half-dozen times, often in the same session

SO, here it is for all. And if you didn't read it, and ran into Rich, well, I told you so....
Sammy's associates, the "Attack Cats" insisted on their pictures being included:

That's Peaches and Duke, respectively. She's afraid of nothing. He's afraid of everything. They're sitting on their attack post - about 5' off the ground, watching everything.
ETA: Peaches has gained so much weight that she can no longer safely get up on top of that thing, and Duke gave up on it a while back, too. She now prefers to sit on top of my laptop in the family room. Not too good if I want to use it. Duke seems to prefer sitting on the dining room table.
Help....
ETA: Don't forget to plug in your location and anything else you want to provide in your Profile. "User Control Panel", which you can find "above", is the place to do that. And the kittens like tuna....
ETA:Wiley posted a note on Copyright Policy. Good idea to click on the link below and read it when you get a chance. Otherwise one of the attack cats may be dispatched to discuss it with you

There's a little more commentary on this subject below.
ETA:If you're considering Concealed Carry, you should grab a copy of the Attorney General's booklet just for the heck of it. While the AG's booklet is NOT the law, it does explain a lot of things.
The booklet is at http://www.ohioattorneygeneral.gov/F...ws-Manual.aspx
Thanks to NuDreamer 'cause I couldn't find it, the CHL Application is located on the AG's web site at http://www.ohioattorneygeneral.gov/C...ApplicationPDF. This version is the "download and type or write on version." Eventually there's a "type in and print" version updated by somebody - I'll try to find that.
I just noticed http://forums.buckeyefirearms.org/vi...hp?f=11&t=8016 with links to the applications, etc.
These addresses change every once in a while - poke around the A/G's web site if you can't find what you wanted.
There's all kinds of useful information on our home page, too: http://www.buckeyefirearms.org/
(The above two links posted here 'cause I can never remember where they are, and tend to fall asleep while trying to find them....)
ETA: Cableguy was kind enough to post this list of Liquor License Classes: http://www.com.ohio.gov/liqr/permitclasses.aspx. Now if I could only remember where I bookmarked the list of Licensees....
ETA: Sammy insisted I post this link.... It's not him - he's a "short hair" and the dog shown has longer hair and shorter legs. But it's hilarious.... http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=P9Fyey4D5hg
ETA: Again.... Please don't bash OFCC or other forums here....
ETA: I just ran into this again and decided that it belonged here:
About quoting things from other sources, within the copyright issues mentioned elsewhere, please don't just drop a URL on the board with out at least some idea of what's behind it.... A short summary, a comment, anything.... (A "NSFW" note might also be appropriate.)
Your effort to keep us informed is appreciated, but some of the guys are too busy to go fishing, and some may already know about the article and just want to comment....
And some of us are too old to click on it  ....
Don't quote the whole thing, though - the copyright people (and us admin types) get upset. Wiley's note, referenced above, says a lot more.
ETA, if you're still here....:
If you want to watch a thread to see what others have to say, there's a "Subscribe Topic" button at the top of the page. Click on it, and a couple more times, and the board will remember to tell you if anybody else posts in the topic.
(You need to tell the User Control Panel where to send these. There's a "User Control Panel" button up top, too. Find "Profile" and there's an option for e-mail addresses - make sure that's OK. Then "Board Preferences" and "Posting Defaults" needs you to click "Notify Me"....) It's probably easier to do this than to explain it, but.... I saw an older member post in a thread just to get notified....
Once in a while the Mods will move a post or a whole thread. If it's moved out of view, that's because they're really upset, or just considering whether to be upset or not. Otherwise, it's been moved to a more appropriate section. Or somebody (nah, not me) was pushing buttons randomly and....

Another one from Sammy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=hiy7mHFnU1Y . Again, not him, but this dog is the exact "sub-breed" that Sammy is - short hair and long legs. Same bark, too. Sammy's a bit older....
ETA: Rich just sent me this: http://forums.buckeyefirearms.org/vi...p?f=15&t=11944. The cat looks like Peaches, and that's the sort of thing she'd do....
(The thread is worth the read, so far, but the pic is at http://i1029.photobucket.com/albums/...pker/18713.gif if you're not in a reading mood

AlanM was kind enough to post the following links:
http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/2923 That link will give you ALL of ORC 2923
Here are some of the other sub-sections of the ORC and OAC that are relevant to firearms and their carrying.

Noticed some comments on the board about this....
The Ohio Liquor Control Board (or whatever they're called) seems to require that places that serve Liquor post a sign to the effect of: "You may be committing a felony...." This sign does NOT apply to CHL holders. If you have a CHL, you may freely ignore it.
The common gunbuster sign (usually showing a handgun with a slashed circle around it), however, whether the place serves liquor or not, DOES apply to CHL holders. If it is an enumerated Criminal Protection Zone (CPZ), that sign is an indication that proceeding inside while armed is a Felony. If it's a private CPZ (i.e., a furniture store), it's still a crime, but includes all kinds of "knowingly" and "don't get caught" aspects.
On an enumerated CPZ (i.e., generally, buildings we paid for - schools, Police Stations, etc.), there may be "unless authorized" wording. CHL holders are NOT authorized.... If it's a private CPZ, there's some argument. My own view is that CHL holders are authorized, but there's no case law, and not everybody agrees with me. It's quite likely that the poster doesn't want CHL holders in there anyway, so it's best to stay out.
Just to make everybody's day, Houses of Worship (Churches, Synagogues, Mosques, etc.) DO NOT have to post. They are, however, enumerated CPZ's. They MAY post "CHL's Welcome" or something to that effect, or they may (the law is fuzzy about who has the authority) permit selected individuals to carry without any notice, although a letter in you pocket is a good idea.
Just IMHO, the "unless authorized" thing is a trap for visitors - one of those "depends on the definition of 'it'" things, and might not stand up in court. There's no case law.... The Houses of Worship thing appears to be another infringement with no case law.
****
In any case, should you see an Ohio Liquor Control sign, DO NOT call/write/whatever anybody to remove it. They can't, but it might get them to think about putting up one of the others.
DO NOT call if you don't see a sign to thank them for not posting. Might get somebody thinking....
DO ask why they posted if you do see a proper Gunbuster sign....
DO NOT be helpful if the sign isn't properly posted.... Behind the register in the back of the room doesn't count....

I have just been informed that my nieces and nephew from El Paso want equal time with the pictures of Sammy and the Attack Cats....

Here are Bandit (on the left) and Pookie. She's about a year older, but half his size. Pekinese mixes of some sort. Hard to see it, but Bandit has a raccoon-style "mask" effect on his face. Pookie, who's sort of a "toy" size, pretty well lived on mom's lap for her last few months.
ETA (01/04/2017): Bandit passed away a couple days ago. He likes to run around in the back yard, and some kind of bird got him. Surgery, etc., seemed to work, but about two days later, poof.... Mom, btw, passed on 02/14/2012 or something like that. Pookie got really confused. Since then, Pookie trashed her back trying to jump off the sofa. As mentioned, she's very small. She's trying to walk with some kind of wheels, and is otherwise doing OK.

This is Gidget, the latest. Some kind of micro-Yorkie and Poodle mix. She's Bandit's size, more or less, but about half his weight, and only about six months old. Just learning to jump onto the sofa.
I wanted to bring Pookie back here, but was outvoted.
