    Air gun marksmen give Camp Perry their best shots

    Josh Watson is one of more than 500 ace shooters who will descend upon Camp Perry during the next three weeks.

    They aim to get to the national JROTC Air Rifle Championship at Fort Benning, Ga.

    Civilian Marksmanship Air Rifle Range

    Camp Perry, off of Ohio 2, Erie Township

    Army JROTC Championship:

    Feb. 14: 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. individual and team competition

    Feb. 14: 4-5 p.m. individual finals

    Marine Corps and Air Force JROTC Championship:

    Feb. 20: 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. individual and team competition

    Feb. 21: 8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. individual and team competition

    Feb. 21: 4-5 p.m. individual finals

    Navy JROTC Championship:

    Feb. 27: 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. individual and team competition

    Feb. 28: 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. individual and team competition

    Feb. 28: 4-5 p.m. individual finals.

    I shot in that NICE indoor air rifle training facility up there back in November. Man is it nice...computerized scoring, with squad screens for observers and shooters to view overhead, as well as a digital screen right on your shooting bench that marks your shots. Target scrolls paper through the bull after each shot for a fresh cut hole from each pellet, and steel plate behind gives audible signal of good hits. If any of you can get a chance to check it out you should do it. Great time to hit the CMP store as well :wink:
