Renewal, Columbiana County

Post by SMMAssociates » Tue Mar 20, 2018 3:23 am

Probably the wrong section, but....

My buddy Joe and I decided to run down (well, ride down in his new truck) to Columbiana to renew our CHLs.

We got there about 1000, and were "next" following a young lady (when you're 71, "young" is kinda relative :) ) who was standing there waiting to be buzzed in. Another gentleman popped out the door with "tell anybody who's out there to come on back"....

We went back and there was a young lady (well, actually under 40 :) ) grabbing prints (no ink method) and taking photos, after accepting our money.

Very friendly, and not bad looking either.

Out of there in five minutes!

They're going to mail us the new licenses in a few days.

They also removed the silliness of going downtown to pay, and then come back to the jail in a week or so, for photos and prints. (Although we used to walk out with our new licenses that way.)

The only improvements I could suggest would involve just handing us our new licenses since the prints and photos were made on a computer that could have done that. Or having a cute little blonde (June Martinko back in the day) handle things. Back then, I had to renew my commission every six months, and June was the secretary in the Crime Lab who usually handled these things. Going to the PD every six months was a pain, but June was worth the trip. She got married and retired, causing great mourning.

Regards,
Stu

71, wow. Didn't they challenge your mental stability? Didn't your rapid eye movement as those young ladies passed by tip them off?

COL:

I think having Joe with me helped. If you think I'm nuts....
