The only reason I ever had to was one that was almost all the way in, but would not seat....and I really did not want to toss the cartridge case. But I suppose people have at times used maybe pistol primers instead of rifle ?? For most of my stuff I have a cast bullet avail to just load some low pressure loads. I have never used the wrong primers however.
