Remington's New 700 Ultimate Muzzleloader w/ Mag Primer

Post by jcsabolt2 » Tue Jun 03, 2014 7:56 pm

Maybe Remington got something right this time...700 Ultimate Muzzleloader. I can't tell if it is rated for "true" smokeless powder or not. If they are smart it would be. That is what will make this a great rifle vs. a mediocre improvement. Magnum rifle primer cartridge, storage for 3 casings and an MSRP of $1295.

It will be interesting to see how this compares to say Bad Bull Muzzleloaders and other custom makers. Too bad Savage didn't jump on this band wagon before they abandoned their ML.

Here's a YouTube video I just found on it...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_dM55a6FHY

Looks like Remington may have purchased the technology from Ultimate Firearms, Inc.

You got it. These are the Johnston guns in production by Remington. They changed a couple of small details but it works the same. I was surprised when I first saw this too.

I can't figure out what has taken the industry so long to get off their butt and get with the program concerning these muzzleloaders. My guess is too many attornies are involved with the decission making process. Savage was there, had the rifle in production for several years and killed it even though it was selling well. Makes no sense to me. Hopefully this thing will work better then Remington's R51 pistol that is no longer cataloged on their web site. Talk about getting a beating by the shooting community.

Saw a review on Guns America blog page. I think they need to refine their setup before judgement is passed.
