Massie (R-KY) Introduces H.R. 86 - Safe Students Act

Post by AlanM » Thu Jan 08, 2015 11:02 am

U.S. Representative Massie Proposes Repeal of Federal Gun-Free School Zones Act
I just introduced H.R. 86, the Safe Students Act, which would repeal the Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990.

Gun-free school zones are ineffective. They make people less safe by inviting criminals into target-rich, no-risk environments. Gun-free zones prevent law-abiding citizens from protecting themselves, and create vulnerable populations that are targeted by criminals.

If you aren't part of the solution, then you obviously weren't properly dissolved.

All well and good. Is it expected to get co-sponsors, receive a floor vote, etc.? Or is it too soon to read those tea leaves?

My tea leaves are to cold to talk. They are so shriveled up I can't read them either.

The only way this will become law is if it passes and is attached as an amendment to some important legislation that the president wants. Even then, I wouldn't be surprised if it is vetoed.
